Accessibility

Youth Beatz site is flat farmland covered in grass with the site separated by gravel roadways and pathways.

Access may prove difficult to negotiate in some areas of the park should there be adverse wet weather.

We have the following measures in place to ensure the event is accessible to all:

  • A viewing platform with a stewarded accessible toilet is located to the right in the main stage arena.
  • A second entrance and exit into the site from the Youth Beatz Carpark for Group Bookings and Blue Badge Holders. The introduction of the second entrance will ensure easier access to/from the site.
  • Non-stewarded accessible toilets are located throughout the site.
  • We’re bringing a Mobile Changing Places toilet to Youth Beatz.  This provides specialist equipment and additional space and should make Youth Beatz an event for anyone.
  • We welcome assistance animals onto the site. There will be an area provided for toileting and drinking.
  • A ‘quiet zone’ will be created on site. This will be in the form of a tented area with soft seating and will allow attendees to get away from noise and business of the rest of the site. The area will be located at the furthest point from the stages and fairground and will be staffed by Youth Work staff at all times.
  • There will be general warning signs around the Main Arena if strobe lighting will be used. Due to the nature of the artists, it is likely that strobe lighting will be used throughout the performances. There will not be a warning immediately before a period of strobe lighting.
  • There will be a First Aid and Welfare tent located in the Main Arena that will be easily visible. There will also be Medics and First Aiders on patrol around the event.
  • There will be no fireworks at the event, although some stage pyrotechnics may be used.
  • British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters will be available at both entrances between 12-2pm for general queries. There will also be dedicated Toon Tours with BSL interpreters on both event days at the following times: Saturday 4-5pm and Sunday 2:30-3:30pm, 4-5pm.
  • A Multifunctional room will be available opposite the Quiet Zone for uses such as prayer, breastfeeding and taking medication.
  • Sensory Packs will be available for hire from the Quiet Zone that include Ear Defenders and Fidget Toys for the duration of both event days.

Is there anything that has a cost at Youth Beatz?

Yes, there are capped costs for the fairground rides, items sold at the fundraising stall and the food vans. Everything else is 100% FREE.

Youth Beatz is an event focussed on providing free and where free is not possible, affordable, opportunities for children, young people and families. In order to provide a free daytime offer, we rely on our catering and fairground providers paying a pitch fee to attend the event – the income from this enables us to offer the range of free activities we have on offer. We recognise that affordability is important for families in light of the cost of living and so we have worked with providers to agree to terms that are below those seen at large scale commercial events and the fairground when it comes to Dumfries & Galloway.

Details of the prices to expect at Youth Beatz can be found here

Attendees are welcome to bring their own packed lunches along to the event and a refillable bottle to access the water points throughout the event so this allows you to attend the event without spending any money

We have worked hard to ensure that more than 95% of activities are free to all attendees and want to reassure families that there is plenty to do, see and experience at Youth Beatz 2024. For more information about what’s on, please click here
